Autism at Kingwood is a registered Charity, limited by guarantee, providing support to adults on the autistic spectrum to lead happy and fulfilled lives in the community. We work across the Thames Valley, in the counties of Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. With almost 300 staff we provide support 120 people with autism and provide advice and guidance to more than 100 people with Asperger Syndrome each year.
The impending rotation of Trustees has created a rare opportunity for interested parties to join the Autism at Kingwood Board. With potentially three vacancies in the next 18 months, desirable skills and experience could include senior knowledge of the Law, Housing, Autism and/or Social Care. We will also be seeking a treasurer to guide the Board and provide financial oversight. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a growing Charity, in sound financial health with an excellent reputation.
The Board meets in Reading four times a year. The charity’s governance also benefits from sub-committee meetings. The Treasurer chairs four meetings of the Finance sub-committee and the Legal Trustee chairs four meetings of the sub-committee dealing with the law as it relates to the work of the Trust. We also have Trustees experienced in Human Relations, Autism and Communications.
Trustees work on a voluntary basis. An interest in the provision of social care to vulnerable adults would be helpful although experience of autism is not essential.
